MY JOURNEY TO MENTAL HEALTHCARE

My path to becoming a therapist was deeply personal. With the experience of losing both my father and sister as a young adult, I felt called to do “heart work” and pursued social work as a way to heal and serve others, navigating emotional distress and hardship. Growing up in my community, dealing with grief and other related stressors, I saw firsthand how much of a need there was for culturally responsive, compassionate care – and how few providers reflected my lived experience and the lived experiences of others in my neighborhood. This inspired me to attend the University of Washington School of Social Work, where I earned my MSW and pursued a career in community mental health to address the significant need for BIPOC clinicians. Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the honor of working with diverse youth, young adults, and families in schools, community mental health, and now private practice.

My mission is to help clients release emotional wounds, cultivate self-love, and embrace holistic wellness – mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. I am honored to walk alongside my clients as they grow, heal, and not just survive, but thrive. As the Founder and Lead Therapist of Afiyah Therapeutic Services my goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where you can feel heard, validated, and understood. I am passionate about supporting mental health recovery. I look forward to accompanying you on your journey towards wellness and personal growth!
